Welcome!

Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 597! The pack serves our parish family at Ascension Catholic Church in Chesterfield, Missouri.  While we draw primarily from Ascension Catholic School, we welcome any boy who wishes to join us in our Scouting adventures and ongoing spiritual development.

Our Pack Meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday of every month in the Multi-Purpose Room at Ascension Catholic School in Chesterfield, MO.  Meetings begin at 6:30 pm (premeeting activity at 6:15 pm) and generally last until 7:45 pm.  We hope you will join us for some Scouting fun!

PACK MEETING Feb. 16th-- Blue and Gold Mass Practice
It is critical that all the boys attend this practice, especially the Webelos II's who have speaking roles.  Please plan to arrive at 6:15 p.m.  Practice will last about an hour.
Blue and Gold Mass and Banquet -- Feb. 21st

A great Pack 597 tradition where the boys perform all the lay roles at the mass.  We will have the presentation of the religious awards during the mass and then process over to the MPR for entertainment and and excellent banquet meal served by our Boy Scouts from Troop 597.  This is always a great family event.  Gathering time is 1345 outside the Big Church.

Friends of Scouting

Ever wonder where the money comes from to support our great Council camps and all of other fantastic GSLAC activities?  The answer is the Friends of Scouting.  Friends of Scouting is an annual fundraising campaign that provides the financial resources necessary to deliver a quality Scouting program.  A successful Friends of Scouting campaign enables the Greater St. Louis Area Council to provide services and programs to more than 90,000 youths each year.  The campaign begins in January and ends in late April.  We will receive our Annual Visit from the Friends of Scouting during our Blue & Gold Banquet.  Please consider making a donation so we can continue the strong St. Louis Scouting tradition.

District PINEWOOD DERBY!!! Date TBA

Gentlemen, start your engines!  All Pack 597 Cub Scouts are invited to attend the races and the accompanyin Scout fair.  All boys are eligible to enter their cars in the District design competition.  I encourage you all to do so.

SPEED QUALIFIERS -- For all Pack 597 speed qualifiers, participate at CBC High School.  You must arrive on time to complete check-in and be ready to race.  Racing passes and additional information will be passed out at the February Pack Meeting.  If your car is eliminated early, you may still enter it in the design competition.

PACK MEETING --Bridging -- March 23rd, 2010
At our March Pack Meeting, come see our Webelos II's become Boy Scouts.  It's a neat ceremony, a good party, and a great chance to wish our departing Scouts and adult leaders well.

Why Join Scouting?

Scouting reinforces the skills and values we want our sons to learn while they're having fun.  Click the Joining Tab above for more reasons.

How do I join?

It's never too late to join Cub Scouts!  If you have a boy in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th grade, you can always sign up for Cub Scouts.  Simply come to one of our meetings (see the Calendar page for details).  For more information on joining us, please e-mail our Cubmaster, Paul Hoffman, at hofffam85@charter.net or contact him by phone at 636-230-8602.

Scouting is for parents, too!

Active, committed Leaders and parents are the heart and soul of a successful Pack.  You don't need to have any special abilities to make a huge difference in a young man's life.  Volunteer to help at one of our many events; you'll be glad you did!
